Sector

Industrial units

Industrial units carry a cost profile nobody else on this list has: half-hourly electricity, capacity charges, and a landlord's service charge that may already include supplies you are separately contracted for.

Audited in this order

  1. 01Half-hourly electricity — unit rate, capacity charge and available KVA
  2. 02Gas for space and process heating, and whether the meter profile still fits
  3. 03Leased line or dedicated broadband where a unit sits away from good coverage
  4. 04Water and trade effluent charges

What we look for

What tends to be wrong in industrial units.

Specific to this sector, and drawn from how the contracts and meters actually behave rather than from a generic savings claim.

  • Available capacity set for a previous tenant

KVA capacity is billed monthly whether or not you draw it. Units that changed use — a machine shop becoming storage, for instance — frequently carry capacity from the previous occupier. Reducing it is a form to the DNO, not a switch.

  • Service charge overlap

On multi-let estates, part of the supply can sit inside the service charge while a separate contract runs on the same meter. We ask for the service charge schedule alongside the bills for exactly this reason.

  • Connectivity is the constraint, not the price

Trading estates are often poorly served. The question is usually which circuit is available at the postcode, and only then what it should cost.

  • Consumption profile beats headline rate

A single-shift unit and a two-shift unit on identical annual kWh have very different day/night splits, and therefore very different best tariffs.

Priority order

Where the audit spends its time.

We work down this list. Lines further down still get checked, they just rarely move the number.

Send us three bills. Keep the report either way.

It takes about five minutes at your end. Nothing is chargeable, nothing auto-renews, and nobody calls you unless you ask.
